Luke Sheekey is the women’s soccer head coach at Eckerd College (NCAA DII). Sheekey returned to his Alma Mater after a successful stint as Interim Head Coach for the 2022 season, leading the program to its best finish since 2017, a record breaking 460-minute streak without conceding a goal, and a first ever undefeated home schedule.

A player at Eckerd between 2006-2010, Luke played 44 games for the Tritons scoring 43 goals and dishing 18 assists, garnering All-SSC and All-Region honors in multiple years. Between playing and returning to Eckerd as Head Coach, Sheekey spent time in Louisiana helping lead the Baton Rouge Capitals to a PDL Final-Four in 2010, along with being a Club Director at PAC and Louisiana Fire. Luke was a part of the Chicago Fire Elite staff who brought together the best players from all the Fire affiliated clubs across the US. Luke was named NSCAA Louisiana Coach of the Year in 2016 for leading Holy Cross HS to its first ever State Championship appearance. In 2016 he became the Head Coach at Delta State University (NCAA DII). In four years, he turned around a program who had not won a game in two GSC seasons, to making its first ever GSC tournament appearance in 2019. In 2020 Luke moved to UNC Charlotte (NCAA DI) to work alongside John Cullen, reaching the Conference USA championship match in his first season with the program.

Prior to leaving England for America, Sheekey spent two seasons at Queens Park Rangers.

Since returning to St. Petersburg to lead the Tritons, the team have made the SSC tournament for successive seasons for the first time in program history. A semi-final appearance in 2023 matches the Tritons best finish to a season.

At UNC Charlotte and Eckerd, Luke has coached multiple All-Conference and All-Region selections, along with many All-PDL and a PDL Defensive Player of the Year award winner. Many players have gone on to play in the professional ranks across the Americas and Europe.

Luke has a bachelor’s degree in communications from Eckerd College and completed a master’s degree in Sports Management at Delta State university.

Luke has his USSF “A” License.
